System and Parameter Identification Methods for Ground Models in Mechanized Tunneling

Overview

In the second phase of the SFB, the previously developed concepts have been extended to enable a more accurate and more efficient model validation. To perform predictions of the upcoming soil conditions, geological scenarios have been identified based on probabilistic concepts. Using global sensitivity analyses and other probabilistic tools, optimised measurement concept is developed and applied on different case studies. In order to perform a faster calculation for large numerical models, common for mechanised tunnelling projects, the concept of hybrid modelling was developed that combines the efficiency of a surrogate model with the concept of submodelling in a Finite Element model."
